Geoglyphs plays highly rhythmic music exploring a broad spectrum of sound. Drawing from diverse influences in instrumental rock, hardcore punk, jazz, minimalism, electronic, and other experimental music, they build and deconstruct multiple sonic layers, mixing tightly composed passages with bursts of free improvisation, noise, and ambience.

ABOUT
Multi-instrumentalists Frank Aveni and Joshua Owsley met in 2007 and bonded over a shared interest in the music of Sun Ra, Can, Tortoise, and others. They formed Geoglyphs and began writing and honing their aesthetic approach as an instrumental duo. Drawing liberally from the realms from rock, improvisational, experimental, and electronic music, their dynamic compositions build and deconstruct sonic and rhythmic layers, mixing tightly composed passages with bursts of free improvisation, noise, and abstraction.
In October 2008, Geoglyphs released their eponymous 4-song EP. Between 2010 and 2014 they wrote and recorded a full-length album titled Earth Science Fiction which will be released in September 2020. Recorded at Firehouse 12 in New Haven with engineer Nick Lloyd (Anthony Braxton, Bill Dixon, Mary Halvorson), this new record captures the evolution of Geoglyphs' unique and expansive sound.
Inspired by and sometimes recalling the work of genre-bending bands like This Heat, Tortoise, and Soft Machine, Earth Science Fiction spans a wide sonic territory, combining inventive polyrhythmic grooves with the volume and energy of punk and hardcore, and the improvisation and harmonic sophistication of jazz, tempered with waves of ambient and textural sound.
